Junior Full Stack Developer (in Space)

At World from Space, we are pioneers in utilizing satellite data for agricultural, sustainability, and environmental monitoring purposes. Our innovative services have been adopted by clients from the World Bank to Nigerian farmers, and cities like Lisbon or Copenhagen. We are also thrilled to be in the process of building the Czech national satellite AMBIC and data tools for a future Moon mission LUGO.

We actively collaborate with software companies, environmental consultants, and organizations like the European Space Agency (ESA) or the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). Additionally, we actively participate in research projects with prestigious international institutions.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual who thrives on challenging tasks, possesses leadership and communication skills, and is unafraid to invent solutions or ask for help when needed. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and operating IT systems that drive our satellite data initiatives.

This will keep you busy:

• Designing and developing software for satellite image data processing 
• Deploying systems and managing them in the cloud 
• Discussing requirements with the sales, product, and technical teams
• Improving and maintaining internal design of our Python services
• Maintaining the system's operational use (including a web application)
• Developing new features for the core of our system
• Verifying and validating systems 
• Discussing ideas and plans for future development

Orbis is using these technologies:

• Backend: Python with asyncio, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy (Postgres)
• Frontend: TypeScript, React, Remix, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, Leaflet
• Cloud services: ECS Fargate, S3, SQS
• Experience with any of these is a great advantage

Qualifications we need from you

• Software development and programming skills, preferably in Python and/or TypeScript/React
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a pro-active approach to challenges
• Experience with geospatial or computer vision domains, and scientific libraries (e.g., numpy, scikit-learn, openCV, pandas) is an advantage
• English B2-C1
• Czech working permit / EU citizenship
