Weâre looking for an experienced backend engineer (or a strong mid-level ready to step up) to work on core systems like customer and segment modeling, CRM integrations, and high-scale infrastructure that connects product decisions to real-world user insights.
About The Role
As an engineer in our Customer Centricity team, youâll build and evolve systems that connect product decisions to real customer data - like customer and segment modeling, CRM integrations, and scalable infrastructure for product workflows.
Youâll work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver impactful features and help product teams better understand customer needs at scale.

What You'll Do
- Build and refine user-facing features with real customer impact
- Contribute to both backend (Kotlin, Ruby) and frontend (React, TypeScript)
- Solve complex technical challenges end-to-end
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering peers
- Understand user needs and help shape product direction
- Learn and grow in a supportive, fast-paced environment
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience building customer-facing products
- Experience with scalable backend systems and distributed architecture
- Ability to break down complex problems and make pragmatic decisions
- Familiarity with Kotlin or strong Java background and willingness to learn
- Comfortable with tools like PostgreSQL, Kafka, GraphQL, AWS
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
- User-focused thinking and ability to connect tech with real-world impact
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive, startup-friendly attitude
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Deep expertise in any areas of our tech stack (React, Node.js, TypeScript, Ruby, Kotlin, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch or AWS)
- Curiosity and passions beyond tech, such as arts, history, or social sciences, that broaden your perspective and enrich your work.
- Experience with scaling systems or interest in how great software runs under the hood
About The Team
The Customer Centricity team at Productboard is building the backend foundations for working with customer data. The team is modeling new core entities like âCustomerâ and âSegmentâ, integrating Productboard with CRM tools, and tackling scalability challenges for enterprise use cases.
