Powertica Commodities AG is an expanding international commodity trader, specializing in power, natural gas, oil, coal and gold trading on commodity exchanges worldwide, bilateral trading with brokers and counterparties, as well as dispatch generation resources in the Czech Republic. The company is currently expanding its business activities and is in search of seasoned IT professionals.

Senior Data Engineer for Business Intelligence

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the company's emerging reporting data warehouse. This platform will be used on a daily basis by our business to monitor our trading portfolios and associated risks. You will work closely with the BI, IT and Core Business teams.

What will be your responsibility?

Ensure the reporting and analytics platform is up to date with the latest features and optimisations.
Regularly assess the data infrastructure to ensure high performance and reliability and resolve any issues quickly.
Create comprehensive documentation of data pipelines and processes to facilitate knowledge transfer and best practices.
Provide technical support and guidance to other team members to enhance their skills and understanding.
Work closely with various technical and business teams (traders, analysts, developers, ...)

What do we expect?

At least 7 years' experience in a business intelligence/data engineering role.
Proven experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-wide reporting and data analysis platforms.
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Strong knowledge of Azure Data Services and Microsoft Fabric.
Experience with distributed cloud computing, particularly Apache Spark and Databricks.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, business informatics, or a related field.
Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor team members.

What are the attributes of the ideal candidate?

Energy sector/commodities trading experience.
Solid understanding of big data ecosystems, in particular distributed event store and stream processing platform (Apache Kafka).
Hands-on experience with workflow management using Airflow, including integration with various APIs and a strong understanding of DevOps principles.
Familiarity with leading data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau and Qlik Sense.
