Introduction

We’re a small, mission-driven team on a quest to support musicians and help them thrive. We need a detail-oriented Data & Operations Associate to join us in our unique corner of the music industry. This career opportunity is perfect for someone with data or admin experience who’s eager to grow into a specialized niche. You’ll make a real impact from day one, helping us keep things running smoothly for the musicians we serve. If you’re looking to learn continuously, make a difference, and dodge corporate bureaucracy, this might be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be part of our operations team, helping make sure that musicians get paid their royalties correctly and on time. Your job is all about organizing information, handling paperwork, and using spreadsheets to keep everything running smoothly. Don’t worry if you’re not an expert yet – we’ll teach you the details. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Check artist info - When a new musician wants to work with us, they fill out a form. You’ll go through what they submitted and check that everything is correct – things like their full legal name, date of birth, tax ID, and list of pseudonyms (stage names). You’ll make sure the format is right and fix any small errors.
  • Prepare documents for signing - Once their information is correct, you’ll help prepare their contracts using a template. These will be sent for electronic signature, and you’ll make sure the documents are saved properly and everything’s in order.
  • Register musicians with collecting organisations - After the artist signs their contract, you’ll handle their registration with collecting societies (we call them CMOs), fill out membership documents, and ensure they’re submitted promptly. The faster we get them registered, the faster they get paid. Most of this is done through spreadsheet-driven API processes. Every country has its quirks; learning them is part of the challenge—and fun. It might seem like routine form-filling and copy-pasting, but understanding the "why" behind it is what sets us apart in helping film composers collect royalties globally.
  • Work with spreadsheets (a lot!) - Most of your work will be in Excel or Google Sheets. You’ll be updating information, matching details between files, and helping move data from one place to another using formulas like VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, GETDATA and IMPORTRANGE. You’ll also help build simple reports using pivot tables – we’ll teach you how if you’re not sure yet.
  • Keep everything organised - You’ll make sure our records are tidy, updated, and easy to understand. You’ll keep track of who’s been registered, what paperwork has been submitted, and who still needs help.
  • Solve puzzles - A lot of what we do feels like solving a puzzle: figuring out which forms are needed, how to fix small issues, or how to get around confusing rules from different countries. If you like working step by step and figuring things out, you’ll enjoy this part.

Requirements

You don’t need to be a veteran – we’re looking for someone motivated and willing to learn. Here’s what would make you a great fit:

  • Some experience in data/admin work: You’ve done something similar before – maybe 6 months to 2 years in a data entry, junior ops, or administrative role. You’re not brand new to working with data and details, and you’re still hungry to grow.
  • Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets: You know your way around a spreadsheet. Sorting data, using basic formulas (VLOOKUP, GETDATA, IMPORTRANGE, etc.), and creating simple pivot tables are in your toolkit, or you’re ready to learn fast.
  • Attention to detail: You take pride in getting things right. Typos, mismatched numbers, or missing info bug you, and you’re the kind of person who double-checks your work without being asked.
  • Curious and eager to learn: When faced with a problem, you’re excited to figure out the “why,” not just tick a box. You ask questions, google new ideas, and enjoy picking up new skills. Basically, you have a growth mindset and aren’t afraid to admit what you don’t know (and then learn it).
  • Organized and reliable: You can juggle tasks and manage your time without heavy supervision. We don´t want to micromanage you – so you should be able to prioritize your work, stay on top of deadlines, and keep yourself organized.
  • Good communicator: You speak up when something’s unclear and aren’t shy about collaborating with teammates. Being honest and clear helps everyone work better, and you value that kind of environment.
  • Bonus – love of music or our mission: If you’re passionate about music or the idea of helping artists, that’s a big plus. It’s not required to be a musician or music expert, but caring about what we do will make the work more rewarding for you.

Don’t worry if you don’t meet every single requirement – we’re big on potential. If you’re excited about this role and our mission, we want to hear from you!

How We Work

We do things a bit differently from your typical corporate shop. Here’s what you can expect from our culture and workflow:

  • Hybrid & flexible: We currently split time about 50/50 between our office and working from home. You’ll get in-person mentorship and team time, plus the convenience of remote work. And once you’re fully onboarded and up to speed, there’s the potential to go fully remote if that’s your preference. We’re flexible – whatever helps you do your best work.
  • No unnecessary meetings: Ever feel like meetings just get in the way? So do we. We keep meetings to a minimum so you can focus on real work. No endless conference calls about things that could’ve been an email. When we do meet, it’s to solve problems, plan something important, or maybe enjoy a quick team catch-up – not to create busywork.
  • Fun, collaborative culture: We genuinely enjoy working together and we like to keep things lively. Expect impromptu team brunches, dinners out, and celebrating wins together. We believe a team that has fun together works better together. There’s always someone to help out or brainstorm with, and zero ego when it comes to supporting each other.
  • No corporate BS: Forget rigid hierarchies and soul-crushing bureaucracy. We’re a small, down-to-earth team where everyone’s voice is heard. We value common sense over politics. You won’t have to wade through red tape to make an impact here – if you have an idea or spot an issue, you can speak up and act on it.
  • Continuous learning & growth: We’re all learning as we go, and we’ll have your back as you grow into the role. You’ll get training and mentorship in our specialized niche, and we’ll encourage you to take on more responsibility as you’re ready. This is a long-term position – we’re investing in you for the long haul, and we hope you’ll grow your career with us.
  • Mission-driven impact: At the end of the day, everything we do helps musicians. That means your meticulous data updates or that report you carefully compiled have a direct effect on real people making music. We all take pride in our work because we know it matters. If you’ve been looking for a job where you can feel good about what you do, you’ll fit right in here.

Ready to jump in? If this sounds like your kind of gig, we’d love to hear from you. Come join us and build something special – for yourself and for the music community. Let’s grow together and help artists thrive, one spreadsheet at a time!
