We at BAE Systems OneArc are a well-established company specializing in the development of world-leading, game-based military simulations for major NATO powers and their allies. Our mission is to advance the industry by leveraging the latest technologies and trends, including whole-world simulation, virtual reality, motion tracking, and AI.

We are looking for a Mid Procedural Environment/Level Artist to help us to improve our large-scale, high-quality digital environment using algorithmic workflows and scalable systems instead of manual placement.

We have the whole world at a 1:1 scale and it requires continuous improvements, gradual refinement, proper biomes, and care to achieve maximum realism.


Key responsibilities:

  • Biome Development: Designing, creating and maintaining our biomes using our internal technology and tools. You will have the ability to shape the complete world and design environments from dry deserts, through moist and swampy lands to freezing tundras.
  • Research & Realism: Researching and defining needs of world biomes (composition of surfaces, vegetation,...) and in collaboration with other artists delivering as close representation of the real world as possible.
  • Pipeline Improvement: In collaboration with techart and our programmers improving the efficiency of the environment pipeline, reducing manual labor, and improving final visuals.
  • Quality Control: Balance visual quality with technical performance. Work with QA to develop robust testing workflows that validate environmental updates against performance and memory constraints.

Skills:

  • Artistic Foundation: A solid understanding of composition, lighting, and color to ensure procedural results meet high visual standards.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with modern AAA pipelines, real-time rendering constraints, and optimization techniques.
  • Language: Good communication skills in English.

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Industry Experience: 2+ years in game development as a Technical, Level, or Environment Artist, ideally working in large-scale environments.


Additional Attributes:

  • Experience with any procedural creation software and large scale model placement.
  • Knowledge of modeling environmental assets in the current gen pipeline. (Blender, Max, Maya, Zbrush, …)
  • Vegetation creation experience (manual, SpeedTree,…)
  • Procedural environmental texture creation (Substance Designer)
  • Knowledge of procedural workflows like in SideFX Houdini, Blender Geometry nodes,...
  • Experience in Python or similar scripting tools.
  • Experience with large asset authoring and tech art related topics.
  • Experience with game engines such as Unreal, Unity, etc.
