About the role:

As an Expert C++ Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

We're seeking an experienced C++ engineer to join our Platform Payments team, working on the client's mission-critical legacy payment processing system. This system processes millions of transactions monthly across multiple payment methods and gateway providers, requiring the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.

You'll be working with a mature, complex C++ codebase that handles real-world financial transactions including credit card processing, gift cards, chip and PIN, and integrations with 15+ payment gateway providers.

An American partner known for selling and distributing tickets for various events. One of the leading providers of booking and ticketing services in the arts and entertainment industry, operating on a global scale.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and enhance a high-throughput, multi-provider payment processing platform handling real financial transactions
Develop robust payment integrations with third-party gateways (Braintree, Adyen, Klarna, Shift4, MPGS, and others)
Implement security-critical features involving encryption, PCI compliance, and sensitive payment data handling
Optimize performance of transaction processing pipelines for scale and reliability
Design and implement comprehensive testing including unit tests, integration tests, and fuzz testing for security-critical components
Debug and resolve production issues in a legacy system with complex interdependencies
Collaborate with payment operations teams to onboard new payment methods and gateway providers
Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS and other financial industry standards
Participate in on-call rotation for production payment system support

Requirements:

7+ years of professional C++ development experience in production environments
Strong understanding of systems programming, including memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization
Experience with payment processing or financial transaction systems
Deep knowledge of security best practices, including cryptography, secure data handling, and common vulnerabilities
Proficiency with build systems (Basel experience highly valued)
Experience working with legacy codebases - ability to understand, modify, and refactor existing systems
Strong debugging skills for complex, multi-layered systems
Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and RESTful API design
Experience with Linux/Unix environments and Apache web server

Desirable:

Payment gateway integration experience (Stripe, Braintree, Adyen, or similar)
PCI-DSS compliance knowledge and implementation experience
Apache module development experience
Kafka or other event streaming platforms experience
Modern C++ standards (C++11/14/17) in addition to legacy C++ knowledge
Financial services industry experience
OpenSSL/cryptographic libraries hands-on experience
Basel build system expertise
Experience with gradual modernization of legacy systems
