Team Lead Data Analytics
We transform organizations and accelerate business outcomes through advanced, production-grade data analytics. Join our team serving industry leaders from industrial, biotech, mass transportation and machinery sectors — organizations like Thermo Fisher trust us to turn their data into a strategic advantage.
We're looking for a Team Lead for our Data Analytics team — a group of 5 analysts developing production analytics (real-time and batch intelligence) in close collaboration with client’s subject matter experts. We use a modern Python data stack (Polars, marimo, Databricks). This is a people-first leadership role: you don’t need to be the most senior technical expert in the team, and that's by design. Your job is to make sure the team is skilled, motivated, growing, and delivering at a consistently high bar.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Line Management. Regular 1:1s, coaching, shadowing, and career development for 5 analysts — including identifying and actively growing future Lead Engineers and Analytical Translators from within the team.
Performance & fairness. Run performance and compensation reviews that reflect impact.
Retention & culture. Keep and evolve a sustainable, motivating environment where people want to stay and do their best work — and where Datamole's values are lived, not just posted on a wall.
Staffing. Hire, onboard, and integrate new team members — technically and culturally.
Capacity & delivery standards. Keep the team optimally staffed against client demand, and hold the bar on delivery quality.
Translating strategy. Turn department goals from the VP of Data Analytics into clarity and buy-in for your team — and represent your team's reality back up.
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
Proven experience leading a technical team inside a B2B company — you've actually owned the full people-leadership lifecycle (hiring, coaching, performance, retention) for a team of similar size, not just acted as a project or tech lead.
Strong enough technical background in modern data/analytics engineering (Python, SQL, and ideally exposure to tools like Polars, Databricks or similar) to coach technical direction and be credible with a hands-on team — you don't need to be the deepest technical expert, but you do need to be a real practitioner, not a former one.
A track record of growing individual contributors into more senior or specialized roles — this is the single most important thing we need in the first year.
Excellent coaching, communication and negotiation skills; you build authority through trust, not title.
Comfort with the operational side of leadership — performance & compensation reviews, capacity planning, reporting, compliance — done reliably, without being chased.
Business proficiency in Czech and English.
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience in a data/analytics consultancy or professional-services environment (client-facing, multiple concurrent engagements).
WE OFFER:
➡️ A rare combo of interesting projects and a supportive atmosphere, resulting in a high level of satisfaction among us - Datamoles.
🤝 Friendly company culture, no useless meetings, no dress code (but please be dressed :))
🏠 Homely offices at Vítězné náměstí, Dejvice - right at the tram/subway station
⚖️ Life-work balance (yes, we put life first), flexible working hours
🏖️ 6 weeks of vacation, 5 sick days
🥳 Regular team buildings 4x a year, office parties
🧑💼 Direct access to and mentorship from the VP of Data Analytics, with real ownership over how the team and practice grow.
✅ Other perks: snacks, fruits and finest coffee & tea, a library with curated books, knowledge sharing sessions, Czech/English lessons, yoga lessons, bicycle parking spots, showers & towels, BBQ terrace, relax room (foosball, Xbox, guitar…)
