Engineering Manager
🩷About us
At PLG Group, we connect people with culture: from concerts, theatre, and festivals to art exhibitions and live events across Czechia and Slovakia.
We started out as GoOut back in 2011, driven by a simple idea: to make it easier for people to discover and experience culture. Over the years, we’ve grown together with the local scene, and in 2023, we became part of the PLG Group, one of Europe’s leading live-event platforms.
Since then, our group has expanded to include Ticketstream and Ticketportal, bringing together the strongest local brands under one roof. Thanks to that, we can keep doing what we love — supporting culture — but now with even better tools, technology, and reach to improve the experience for organisers and visitors alike.
What hasn’t changed? Our mindset. We still work in a creative, open, and no-BS way, close to the artists, promoters, and audiences who make culture happen every day.
💚Your role
As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead our mobile engineering team while staying hands-on as a developer. You'll have the space to take ownership, shape our architecture, and make a meaningful impact — as both a technical leader and an active contributor to the codebase. We're looking for a senior engineer who can mentor the team, own our React Native/Expo architecture, and push forward what our multi-tenant SaaS product can do.
What you’ll do:
Lead and mentor the development team: set technical direction, review work, refine tasks, and remove blockers so the team ships high-quality, maintainable code.
Own the architecture: design, implement, and evolve the mobile app's architecture for scalability, security, and maintainability, including the multi-instance / white-label setup that lets us scale one codebase across many client deployments.
Build hands-on: develop and maintain the React Native app using Expo SDK, implement UI from Figma designs, and integrate our internal REST API, Firebase (including push notifications), and external APIs such as Regula.
Manage custom builds: configure and maintain custom build clients (EAS Build / custom dev clients) for each SaaS instance, and automate builds across multiple apps (CI/CD, EAS submit).
Run the engineering side of delivery: manage workflows, and infrastructure needs; partner with the Product Owner on timelines, and priorities.
Secure what the team needs: research and propose the tools, headcount, or investments the team needs to do its best work, and advocate for the team across departments.
Our stack:
Mobile: React Native, Expo SDK, custom build clients
Language: JavaScript and TypeScript - comfortable moving between both, and gradually typing existing code
Infrastructure & services: Firebase, REST API, push notifications, Regula
Design: Figma
Backend (if you go full-stack): Node.js, Express.js, Prisma ORM, Firebase
Who we're looking for:
Proven, deep experience with React Native and the Expo ecosystem.
Experience building and maintaining custom Expo dev clients (Expo Go alone isn't enough).
Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs and Firebase (auth, database, push notifications).
The analytical mindset to write code that's reusable and configurable across multiple independent SaaS instances.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, with the judgment to balance hands-on coding with people management
Nice to have:
Full-stack range: Node.js, Express.js, and Prisma ORM, so you can design and build your own API endpoints.
Experience integrating identity/document-verification tools (Regula).
Experience automating builds for multiple apps (CI/CD, EAS submit).
Strategic thinking and data-analytics experience.
Experience with Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative workflows.
