Front-end Engineer
We're looking for an experienced frontend engineer to join our Design System team. You'll create the building blocks that enable our engineering teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
At Custom Ink, we are building an e-commerce platform on which you can design and order custom-printed swag. We also develop the operations and supply chain tooling that powers our business.
What will your responsibilities be?
Build and maintain Custom Ink's Design System (Pigment), creating reusable React components with TypeScript, CSS, and Storybook documentation that serve internal engineering teams.
Design clean component APIs and contracts that make integration straightforward for engineers across the organization.
Work with Claude CLI on code generation, letting engineers focus on architecture and other high-level concerns
Rewrite existing components (based on MUI v5) with modern alternatives. Improve SSR performance, component APIs, and design patterns adherence
Collaborate with designers to translate specs into flexible, reusable components at the atomic, molecule, and organism levels.
Participate in Agile development cycles, maintain component quality through testing and code reviews.
Participate in an on-call support rotation, providing prompt response to production incidents affecting the Design System.
What are we looking for?
Background in Computer Science or Software Engineering preferred.
3+ years of experience building applications in React / TypeScript, with strong interest in front-end architecture.
Excitement and experience with AI coding tools like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
Experience building design systems and working with tools like Storybook or Figma.
Must be located in Czechia or Slovakia.
What do we offer you for this role?
A competitive compensation package including equity.
Work remotely or from our Karlin office - it's entirely up to you.
Budget to attend your favorite conferences or gain certifications (e.g. AWS).
Annual hackathon to work on innovative ideas of your choice.
A beautiful office in Karlin, with a full fridge, top-notch coffee, and a Multisport card to stay active.
We'd love to see your work—share your GitHub, portfolio, blog, or anything that shows off your skills.
