Senior Data Scientist
Who we are
We turn unpaid invoices into working capital, helping SMEs keep their businesses moving. Operating across Czechia, Slovakia and Poland, Malcom Finance combines technology and smart risk assessment to make financing decisions in as little as 24 hours.
Since 2018, we’ve financed more than 160,000 invoices worth €320M+. We’re backed by Zero Gravity Capital and have been recognised by Sifted 250 and Deloitte Fast 50.

The role
You’ll join our Risk team and report directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Your work will help shape how we assess debtors, make credit decisions and monitor the health of our portfolio. You’ll work closely with Credit Experts, Operations and Collections, and partner with our CTO/Product team on practical AI and LLM use cases.
This is a hands-on role with room to take ownership. We’re looking for someone who can move from a question or analysis to a model, dataset or tool that people can actually use—not just a notebook or a proof of concept. What you’ll work on
· Build and maintain credit-risk and scoring models for clients and debtors across our Czech, Slovak and Polish portfolios, using internal payment, invoicing and collections data.
· Track portfolio and invoice-level risk metrics, including approval rates, late payments, defaults and concentration of exposure, and turn the findings into clear reporting for the CRO and leadership.
· Prototype AI- and LLM-based automations for underwriting and document processing—for example, extracting data from invoices, CMRs and contracts or flagging debtor risks—in collaboration with the CTO/Product team.
· Write production-ready SQL against our Internal System (IS) and other data sources, building reliable datasets and pipelines for Credit Experts, Collections and Operations.
· Work with the Credit Expert team to test, calibrate and improve credit limits and pricing rules.
· Support the CRO with quantitative analysis for board and investor materials and OKR reporting.
· Help establish data-quality standards and analytics best practices as our Risk function grows.

What will help you succeed
· 5+ years in a data science or analytical role, ideally in credit risk, lending, insurance, fraud or another domain where models inform real decisions.
· Strong, hands-on Python and SQL skills. You’re comfortable building models and writing efficient, production-ready queries—not only exploring data in notebooks.
· Practical experience applying AI tools or LLMs to real workflows, such as document extraction, classification, retrieval or automation—not just using a chat assistant.
· A strong quantitative foundation and confidence with statistical modelling and probability.
· A Master’s degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, computer science, engineering or another quantitative field.
· Fluent written and spoken English; our internal communication and tools are in English.
· A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset. You care about whether a solution works in production and makes a real difference.
It’s a plus if you
· Have worked in factoring, SME lending, trade finance or another B2B financial-services environment.
· Know the basics of invoice insurance or non-recourse factoring, including debtors, receivables, advances, surcharges and recourse vs. non-recourse.
· Speak Czech, Slovak or Polish.
· Have worked directly with a CRO, Head of Risk or another senior stakeholder.

What you can expect at Malcom
· Real ownership and direct access to the CRO, with a chance to influence how we manage risk.
· A fast-growing fintech scaleup backed by Zero Gravity Capital.
· Hybrid work from our Prague office at Lazarská 11/6, Prague 2.
